OSMA Launches Medical Marijuana Special Interest Group
In Ohio, medical marijuana is the law of the land. Whether physicians plan to get certified to recommend it or not, it is important to be prepared and informed. The OSMA has gathered all the need-to-know resources in one place, including a peer-to-peer discussion board—in its new Medical Marijuana Special Interest Group. Access to these resources is included as an OSMA member benefit, or non-members can purchase access for $149 annually.
The OSMA Medical Marijuana Special Interest Group was created to bring physicians across Ohio complete, accurate, and timely information on the state’s medical marijuana program. In the Special Interest Group, physicians will find short webinars, in-depth articles, and a discussion forum dedicated to physicians who have questions, ideas, or just want to connect with other doctors across Ohio who share an interest in medical marijuana.

Webinar topics include legal considerations of not only recommending medical marijuana, but providing care to patients who may have gained a recommendation from a different physician. In addition, OSMA staff has provided an OARRS refresher, and medical record documentation as it pertains to medical marijuana.
The peer-to-peer discussion board is a secure forum in which physicians can ask questions. OSMA Director of Regulatory Affairs Jennifer Hayhurst is a regular contributor to the board. Hayhurst has worked closely with the State Medical of Ohio as well as the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board to bring physicians the most complete, accurate, and timely information.
New resources and discussion will be added regularly, as new information becomes available. Click here to access the OSMA Medical Marijuana Special interest Group now.
