2024 Fellowship Opportunity

The Ohio State Medical Association is looking for a driven and personable medical student for a 6-8 week internship in summer 2024! The Medical Student Fellow will work with our Government Relations staff on ongoing advocacy initiatives relating to the practice of medicine. Expect unique opportunities in a fun, fast-paced environment.

2024 Summer Scholars
Planning a Summer Internship? Will your internship be a PAID position?
If not, the OSMA Foundation Summer Scholars stipend might be a good fit for you.
Most medical students between year one and two engage in short-term summer opportunities for medical career development. Some students choose research projects while others choose clinical opportunities available at the medical school, area hospitals, or community health programs. Nearly half of these internships are UNpaid. OSMA recognizes the financial challenges medical students face, and we're here to help remove barriers that might prevent you from pursuing a summer experience!
That is why the OSMA Foundation has created the Summer Scholars program—to award $2,500 stipends to medical students across Ohio, helping to fill the financial gap of an unpaid internship.

Student Research Poster Presentations
OSMA is inviting medical students to submit an abstract for poster presentations at our 2024 Annual Meeting on April 6. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your reputation both within and outside your institution—and to network with physicians about policy, research, career interests and more. The OSMA Annual Meeting event will give you the opportunity to present your research, network with Ohio physicians, learn about research innovation in Ohio, boost your CV, and engage with important advocacy work also taking place at the OSMA meeting.

OSMA MSS Board Elections
Elections for positions on the OSMA-MSS Board will occur during the MSS Meeting in February. Elections this year will be for Secretary/Treasurer, Delegate, Vice-Chair, and Chair. Executive Council terms begin at the end of the OSMA HOD meeting in April and continue through the HOD meeting the following year. OSMAPAC representative is a 2-year term, and Glen McClain will reprise the role for the 2024-2025 term. The application to be on the ballot will officially open in mid-January and you will be asked to include your CV, a short statement on why you are running, and a headshot (optional).
