Hello! OSMA sends this monthly newsletter to all medical staff offices to distribute internally. Our goal is to best connect everyone on staff with Ohio's relevant information that impacts your profession—regardless of title, specialty or location. If you have questions or ideas that you think can improve the content or distribution of this communication, please email OSMA.
In a major win for Ohio physicians, and after continued advocacy from OSMA, the final version of the state budget legislation (HB 96) includes language which protects the integrity of the physician-patient relationship, physician autonomy, and the ability of physicians to exercise their independent medical judgement.
Once the Conference Committee process started, the OSMA Advocacy team urgently communicated with members of the Committee regarding several key items and their potential inclusion in the final budget bill.

A coalition of 45 medical associations, representing hundreds of thousands of physicians and the 80 million Medicaid patients served, has written the U.S. Senate urging them to reject the damaging cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and medical student loan programs in the Senate Finance Committee draft budget reconciliation bill. These cuts will seriously harm access to health care for all Americans.
This week, OSMA and more than 75 other national and state medical professional organizations sent a communication to Secretary Kennedy expressing strong concerns with the recent termination of all the members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices at the CDC.
The Ohio Department of Health is inviting medical professionals to connect with the One Health in Ohio (OHIO)—a statewide network focused on supporting collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health.
