OSMA continues to work diligently behind the scenes on legislative and regulatory issues that impact your practice—making sure the collective voice of Ohio physicians is heard.
OSMA Comments on CMS’s Proposed 2026 Medicare Fee Schedule:
This annual fee schedule rule plays a key role in determining how physicians are reimbursed under Medicare and outlines regulatory requirements that directly affect the operations of physician practices. While the proposed rule includes a temporary 2.5% increase to the Medicare conversion factor, OSMA raised strong concerns about several provisions that could have lasting impacts on physician practices across Ohio—particularly those that are small, rural, or independently operated.
OSMA's Current Advocacy Work:
Numerous OSMA advocacy priorities are among the many items that we anticipate will be up for deliberation by elected officials within the next couple of months—here is a brief preview of the issues that OSMA anticipates will see lots of activity this fall, including insurance reform and scope of practice legislation.
Late last month, OSMA joined the American Medical Association and a large group of national and state medical organizations in signing onto a letter to U.S. Senate leadership urging opposition to S. 2426, which has been called the “Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act (ECAPS) Act.” The bill creates a pathway for pharmacists to perform Evaluation and Management services for influenza, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), or streptococcal pharyngitis (strep throat).
OSMA recently signed on to two letters encouraging Congressional leadership to work to prioritize extending the expiring enhanced premium tax credits which have helped more than 24 million Americans afford health care coverage and access necessary medical care.
