The Ohio Ophthalmological Society (OOS) invites Medical Students, Residents and Fellows to submit an abstract for poster presentation at the 2025 annual meeting. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the OOS and to enhance your reputation both within and outside your institution – and to network with physicians about potential practice opportunities. More than 100 ophthalmologists will attend this meeting. This event will provide you with the opportunity to learn about new treatment options and research to advance towards excellence in ophthalmology clinical practice.

Guidelines, Submission and Review

Abstracts should relate to clinical or research oriented work in the field of ophthalmology. Each de-identified abstract is reviewed for quality and content. If the abstract is accepted, the author must commit to attending the OOS Annual Meeting to present their poster.
• Limit of two applications per individual.
• Poster board size will be 6' wide by 4' tall. Your poster may be of any size smaller than these dimensions. Presenters are responsible for creating and bringing their own poster. Pins are provided.
• You may submit abstracts/posters of completed work, work in progress or work presented at a local or regional level.
• The primary author is responsible for obtaining written consent from all authors and appropriate institutions prior to submitting an abstract/poster.
• Abstracts/posters must be free of commercial influence; they may not include commercial logos and not imply an endorsement of any commercial product or service.
IMPORTANT!
• Awards are announced at the end of the meeting and all poster presenters are expected to attend the full meeting. You must be present to receive an award if selected.

Designate one of the following categories for each abstract submitted. You may submit multiple abstracts:
• Research
• Case Study

Format

The size limit for the body of the abstract is 350 words. You do not need to include references in the abstract. When submitting a case study abstract, you can organize your narrative as follows below. For research, you can use similar headings such as Introduction, Case Description/Methods, Discussion . . . or you can leave off the headings when you provide the body of your abstract if you think not appropriate. The judges will know research doesn’t have the same format as a case study.

• Conclusions

Awards

• Up to 10 abstracts may be accepted.
• Awards: $100 gift card 1st place / $75 second place / $50 third place plus a great honor to add to your resume!
