In terms of a timeline, the state hopes to start vaccinating those 80+ starting January 19, those 75+ and those with congenital development or early onset medical disorders after January 25, those 70+ and K-12 school employees and older after February 1, and those 65+ after February 8. The state anticipates vaccinating those that chose to get it in these populations will take several weeks.
Currently, hospitals, health systems, and nursing homes are the only locations providing the vaccine. Starting the week of January 18, sites will be expanded to include pharmacies, doctors’ offices, health centers, urgent cares, as well as the existing health departments and hospitals. As of this week, there are over 1,700 sites registered to provide the vaccine. Not all of these sites will receive the vaccine early in the process, but the state hopes to bring more online as more vaccine becomes available.
Those that are eligible to receive the vaccine will be able to access a state website that will have a search function allowing individuals to look for locations in their community where vaccine distribution is available. There will also be information at these sites on how to register to get the vaccine.
