Ohio Medicaid Announces New Managed Care Contracts

 

The Ohio Department of Medicaid has selected six companies as recipients of the next managed care organization (MCO) contracts. The contracts are scheduled to start in January 2022.

 

The six companies include existing MCOs and new entrants to the market. The selected companies include:

A decision regarding Buckeye Community Health Plan was deferred, and the other current MCO, Paramount Healthcare, was not selected.


OSMA anticipates there will be legal challenges to the selections as there have been in the past. As more details regarding MCO transition and implementation become available we will keep members updated.

Also, OSMA will hold both live and on-demand webinar access during the weeks of August 9 and August 16 from CGS Administrators (Medicare), Ohio Medicaid, Ohio Medicare Managed Care Plans and the six new Ohio Medicaid managed care plans that will implement the next generation of Medicaid managed care in Ohio.
