Please join the Lorain County Medical Society on Tuesday, September 23 for a conversation with Dr. Jeffrey A. Singer, health policy scholar at the Cato Institute.
Before moonlighting in the policy world at the Cato Institute, Dr. Singer’s long career as a surgeon in the Phoenix area included founding Valley Surgical Clinics Ltd., the largest and oldest group private surgical practice in Arizona. In addition to advocating for patients’ autonomy, another major focus of his policy research is harm reduction.
Earlier this year, Singer published his first book Your Body, Your Health Care. It offers a compelling vision for a future in which patients regain control over their health decisions and care. The book underscores the importance of personal autonomy, highlighting how the patient-practitioner relationship has been overshadowed in recent decades by paternalistic and overbearing government intervention.
Before receiving a free signed copy of his book in September, you can review an excerpt from Chapter 1 here: Autonomy, Informed Consent, and the Right to Self-Medicate.
LCMS looks forward to hosting this discussion!
