A: I was named General Counsel in 2008. In this role I have provided legal counsel to OSMA, its affiliated organizations, the House of Delegates and the Council. In addition, I have managed OSMA legal advocacy and policy development, supported the OSMA membership by responding to inquiries and proactively engaging and educating members on a wide array of health law and policy issues such as HIPAA and employment agreements. I also provide support for OSMA’s legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts.
A: 30 years
A: One of the most challenging and fulfilling of my tasks at OSMA was developing and implementing OSMA educational materials and programs to help physicians implement the HIPAA privacy and security rules. I enjoyed the challenge of distilling the complex rules into manageable items, and eventually I hope understandable implementation steps for practices.
A: Downhill skiing is, by far, my most favorite activity. I also enjoy music and sing regularly at my church.
Q: What part of your upcoming retirement are you most excited about?
A: Having more time to ski during the winter months due to not having to focus on Annual Meeting and House of Delegates preparations!
