Submission and Review Process

Each de-identified abstract is reviewed for quality and content. If the abstract is accepted, the author must commit to attending the OSMA Annual Meeting to present their poster.
Up to 18 posters may be selected for presentation.

Guidelines

• Limit of two applications per individual.
• Poster board size will be 6' wide by 4' tall. Your poster may be of any size smaller than these dimensions. Presenters are responsible for creating and bringing their own poster. The poster board and pins will be provided.
• You may submit abstracts/posters of completed work, work in progress or work presented at a local or regional level.
• The primary author is responsible for obtaining consent from all authors and appropriate institutions prior to submitting an abstract/poster.
• Abstracts/posters must be free of commercial influence; they may not include commercial logos and not imply an endorsement of any commercial product or service.
• Authors should plan to be at their poster during the afternoon poster session to answer questions.

Categories

You must designate one of the following categories for each abstract submitted. You may submit up to two abstracts for consideration. Your abstract may be placed into another category if reviewers see fit:
1. Clinical Medicine
2. Clinical Surgical
3. Basic Science / Translational Research
4. Advocacy, Policy, or Public Health
5. Other

Title

The title should be brief and clearly state the content of the poster.

Authors

List the presenting author's name in the About You section. Co-authors can be noted in the abstract narrative below and will not count towards the 350-word limit. Give the name and location of the institution where the work was done. If the work was not done at an institution, list only the city and the state.

Body

The size limit for the body of the abstract is 350 words. You do not need to include references in the abstract. When submitting a case study abstract, you can organize your narrative as follows below. For research, you can use similar headings such as Introduction, Case Description/Methods, Discussion . . . or you can leave off the headings when you provide the body of your abstract if you think not appropriate. The judges will know research doesn’t have the same format as a case study.
1. Introduction
2. Methods
3. Results
4. Conclusion

Awards

Judging will take place Saturday afternoon, April 5. The top poster in each category and overall Best in Show, as voted on by the judges, will be presented with a certificate prior to the Presidential Inauguration Saturday evening. Further programming details will be included in abstract acceptance correspondence. Annual meeting attendees will also review the posters and vote for People's Choice Award.
