OSMA Advocates for Medicare Physician Payment Changes

OSMA has joined with more than 120 other state and national medical societies communicating our support to the sponsors of H.R. 2474—the Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act.

H.R. 2474 would raise the physician payment rate above current law by providing an annual Medicare physician payment update tied to inflation, as measured by the Medicare Economic Index (MEI).

For decades Medicare physician payment rates have been flat, being dramatically outpaced by the rate of inflation and increases received by hospitals and other healthcare entities. This critical legislation would ensure more financial stability for physicians moving forward.

This legislation will be a top priority for OSMA and organized medicine at the federal level. It is critical that the Ohio congressional delegation hear from physicians across the state urging passage. Thank you in advance for your support and advocacy.
