Oxycon"tained" Again in 2018
Pharmacy Board Releases Compelling OARRS Data.
This week, the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board reported that the number of opioids dispensed to Ohioans dropped by 325 million from 2012 or 2018. These numbers represent a decrease in the number of doses of the drugs per Ohioan as well as a decrease in the strength of the daily doses. These positive decreases are just one part of the solution in battling the state’s opioid epidemic, and it demonstrates the commitment of the physician community to comment and participate in the rule-making and legislative processes for prescribing opioids.
As a reminder to all members, the OSMA SmartRx program has been updated with all of the current opioid prescribing rules as developed by the Pharmacy Board. This educational course is free to OSMA members and offers 1.0 hour of CME credit.
