Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is proposing some sweeping changes—give your feedback!

The OSMA advocated for significant changes to the Ohio Medicaid Managed Care Program—and we were heard. Using our initial feedback, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is proposing some sweeping changes to simplify physician and patient interaction with the system and again is asking for our feedback on the proposal.

Ohio currently contracts with five companies to manage the approximately 3 million lives covered by the Medicaid program in Ohio—Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource, Molina Healthcare of Ohio Inc., Paramount Advantage, and UnitedHealthcare Community Health Plan of Ohio, Inc.

Prior to soliciting bids from these companies and others, ODM is seeking input from individuals and organizations about what currently works and doesn’t with the managed care organizations (MCOs) and how the Medicaid managed care system might be revised moving forward. The OSMA and many other organizations and individual practices submitted comments to ODM in its original request for information in July of 2019. ODM reviewed all these comments and has proposed some significant changes to the program and is once again asking for feedback from physicians (and this time the MCOs as well).

Stakeholders have until March 3 to provide feedback,
and we are asking for your help.
