OSMA Reaffirms Support for Individuals Impacted by the East Palestine Train Derailment

The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), the state’s largest and oldest association representing physicians, reaffirmed its support for all individuals impacted by the East Palestine crisis – including the physicians who care for them – at the organization’s Annual Meeting held April 15-16, 2023.

As an organization that advocates for the profession, patients and public health, physicians, medical residents, and medical students from across Ohio at the meeting focused on encouraging the Ohio Department of Health and federal partners to continue soil and water testing in the region to identify areas at risk for toxic exposures.

Additionally, OSMA members believe that all parties involved with the toxic chemicals spill from the East Palestine train derailment, including state and federal agencies, should provide continued health, financial and educational support to individuals exposed to the toxic chemicals associated with the disaster.
