2024 Fellowship Opportunity

Have free time this upcoming summer?  Want to get a hands-on advocacy experience?
The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) is looking for a driven and personable medical student for a 6-8 week internship in summer 2024!

The Medical Student Fellow will work with our Government Relations staff on ongoing advocacy initiatives relating to the practice of medicine. Expect unique opportunities in a fun, fast-paced environment.

The OSMA will be accepting applications for this fellowship through Monday, February 26, 2024.

Description:

OSMA’s Medical Student Legislative and Advocacy Fellowship provides valuable experience working with the premier physician organization in Ohio, as well as an excellent topic of discussion during residency interviews. This fellowship is conducted in partnership with the Health Policy Fellowship Initiative (HPFI), an organization that provides education, mentorship, and networking for health policy fellows across the nation.

Hours are flexible and will be coordinated between the fellow and members of the OSMA staff. The OSMA office is working remotely, but has an office space utilized by several staff members at a time. Our office is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, but much of the fellowship experience will be accumulated in downtown Columbus at the Ohio Statehouse and surrounding areas with our Government Relations team. Occasional evening and weekend event opportunities will be available. The fellow will receive a modest stipend as compensation for their time and efforts. The summer fellow must make a commitment of at least 20 hours per week over the 6-8 week time period. For this reason, the position is a best fit for a first-year or possibly second-year medical student.

How to Apply:

Please complete the application form below and attach or email us a copy of your CV.
